Terms of Service

Last updated

These Terms govern your use of vomatt’s website and apps (the “Service”). vomatt is an early-stage project run by Hsiang Chin, an individual based in Taiwan (“we”, “us”). If a company is set up to run vomatt, it will take over these Terms and we’ll let you know. By using vomatt you agree to these Terms; if you don’t, please don’t use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

1. What vomatt is

vomatt is a voting platform. Anyone can read public polls; members can create polls, vote, comment, and follow other members and topics.

2. Your account

  • You sign in with a one-time code we email you, or with a passkey you’ve added. Keep your email account secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use vomatt. If you’re under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms for you.
  • One person, one account. Your username and profile are public; don’t choose a name that impersonates someone or misleads others. If you change your username, links to your old one stop working.
  • You’re responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at hello@vomatt.com if you think someone else has access.

3. Creating polls

  • You choose who can reach your poll (everyone, anyone with the link, or only people you invite) and who can see what each person chose after it ends. Both are fixed once the poll opens, because voters rely on them.
  • You can delete a poll while it’s scheduled or within 20 minutes of creating it. After that it stays, so the votes cast on it count.
  • When you invite people by email, we send the invitation for you. Only invite people you know and who would expect to hear from you; never use invitations for spam. We limit how many invitations you can send each day.

4. Voting

  • One member, one vote per poll. Don’t create extra accounts, use automation, or coordinate fake votes to change a result.
  • While a poll is open, results are sealed: people see turnout but not the counts. Results are shown when the poll ends.
  • Each poll shows, before you vote, who will be able to see your choice once it ends. You can vote anonymously to keep your name off voter lists.

5. Your content

  • You keep ownership of the polls, comments and profile details you post (“Your Content”).
  • You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute Your Content to operate and promote the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we must keep it by law.
  • You confirm you have the right to post Your Content.

6. Rules

Don’t post or do anything that:

  • is illegal, harassing, hateful, threatening or sexually explicit;
  • spreads misinformation meant to mislead;
  • shares other people’s personal information without permission;
  • is spam or advertising;
  • infringes someone else’s intellectual property;
  • tries to break, overload, scrape or get around the security or limits of the Service.

If you see something that breaks these rules, report it from the poll or comment. You can also block a member to stop seeing them.

7. Moderation

We review reports and may remove comments, close or remove polls, and suspend or delete accounts that break these Terms, with or without notice. If you think we got it wrong, contact us.

8. Results are not official

Polls on vomatt reflect the people who chose to take part. They are not scientific surveys, official elections or binding decisions, and we don’t guarantee their accuracy.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Account settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent: it removes your profile and the polls you created, including the votes and comments others left on them. Download your data first if you want a copy. We may suspend or end access if you break these Terms, or if we stop the Service.

10. Disclaimers and liability

vomatt is free and in early development: features may change or be removed, and the Service may be interrupted or, rarely, lose data. It’s provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for content posted by members. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you on the site or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use vomatt after that means you accept the new Terms.

12. Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China). Disputes go to the Taiwan Taipei District Court as the court of first instance, unless the law where you live gives you the right to use your local courts.
